Emily Myatt

About the owner

Emily Myatt is a qualified Veterinary Nurse who completed her Certificate at ITHACA College of Tafe in Brisbane in 1993.

She has worked at Veterinary Surgeries on the Gold Coast and in England, UK.

Pet Grooming is just one of the Veterinary Nurses duties, if at least to prepare for surgery of a wound site.

The advantages of a Veterinary Nurse/Owner operated business is that we can often identify health problems in the pet an owner may have overlooked.

Skin problems that are hidden under a dirty and knotted coat. Dental problems or ear iinfections that require veterinary attention.

Emily has completed certificates from PIAA in Cat Grooming, Companian Animal Hygienist, more recently has passed all but one Certified Master Groomer Exams an internationally recognised qualification.will post when she gets certified.

Since the age of 14, she has successfully shown Irish Setters, Rhodesian Ridgebacks and more recently a Standard Poodle, ."Bruno" pictured here....

Bruno proudly sits out the front of the salon every day greeting the customers and is forever sporting a new cut'n'colour.

About Animal Magic

The business was started from scratch in August 1998.

A small shop in Mudgeeraba, Queensland was rented. The shopfit very basic. A single stand dryer, a set of clippers a few blades, scissors, a second hand hydrobath. The most important component being a skilled and hard working Veterinary Nurse/Groomer.

Letter box drops and referrals from the local Vets got us going and it wasn't long before our reputation was established.

In August 2004 the salon was relocated to it's current address, Shop 3/31 Railway Street as we had outgrown the original premises.

The new salon has a large reception containing all types of 'fancy stuff'. Behind our large viewing window is the 'styling room' where hair cutting and design is on display.

The washing & blow drying room is separate. When you see a Husky blow dried you'll know why.... just think snow storm!

All of the grooming apparatus is updated regularly to improve the efficiency and quality of our work.

In September/October 2005 Emily travelled to the United States of America where she attended two Grooming and Pet Trade Expo's. The first was 'Groom Expo', Hershey Pennsylvania and the second 'Superzoo' in Las Vegas.

The Nov '06 issue of "Groomer to Groomer" magazine has Emily on the cover talking about her last experience. See the LINKS page to read the article.

The wealth of knowledge and experience gained from these events, contacts and latest techniques only increases the skill level and expertise available from the staff at our salons.

Recent accolades are winning the Best Groomer award and 'snazziest stylist' at the Paws & Claws awards August 2007.
